The Leicester Mental Health Carers Project provides emotional and practical support to carers of adults with mental health problems, including dementia, living in Leicester City.

What we do:

  • We provide 1:1 support for carers based on their own individual needs
  • We provide support, information and advice to carers about a variety of issues related to caring including mental health, medication and local mental health services
  • We liaise with relevant agencies and professionals
  • We signpost/refer carers to other agencies where appropriate
  • We provide a monthly Carers Group where carers can have a break from caring, meet other carers and participate in a therapeutic activity such as Card Making or Playing Bingo
  • We hold a monthly Carers Drop-in at The Bradgate Mental Health Unit
  • We provide day trips and activities for carers

Our service is:

  • Free and confidential
  • Open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

Criteria for referrals:
The person being cared for must:

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Live in Leicester City
  • Suffer from a mental health problem

Referral process:
We have an open referral system so accept referrals from anyone including self-referrals from carers.
